Marco Beckmann, Director

Marco is the CEO and co-founder of Nanostart AG, a German publicly listed nanotechnology focused Venture Capital fund. In this role, he oversaw almost twenty investments in nanotechnology start-ups and companies mainly in Germany and the US. Besides, he was involved in over ten successful exits, including several IPOs on the German stock exchange and a number of trade sales of his portfolio companies to larger international organizations.

He held directorships with many of those portfolio companies and remains in the board of innovative companies such as ItN Nanovation AG, a German manufacturer of highly innovative ceramic membranes for water treatment, or Lumiphore Inc., a California-based provider of highly fluorescent molecules for the life sciences and diagnostics industry.



Harry de Wit, Director

Harry is Chief Executive Officer Asia-Pacific and member of the Management Board with Fresenius Medical Care since 2016. Fresenius Medical Care, headquartered in Germany and member of the DAX-30 stock index, which combines the 30 largest publicly listed companies in Germany, is the world’s leading provider of products and services for people with chronic kidney failure.

Prior to joining Fresenius Medical Care, Harry served as President Asia for Covidien (now Medtronic) and has worked for 3M, Bristol Myers and Mediq in different leadership positions. Harry holds a Bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy and a Master’s degree in Medicine from the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, as well as marketing degrees from the Netherlands Institute of Marketing.



Bernd Dautel, Director and Partner

Prior to joining NAI in early 2012, Bernd was the Managing Director of Wieland Asia/Pacific in Singapore. The Wieland group with headquarters in Germany is one of the world’s leading independent producers of semi-finished copper and copper alloy products. Under his lead, Wieland‘s business in the Asia / Pacific region grew in eighteen years from a small enterprise to an organization generating more than 400 million SGD in revenues per year.

During his time with Wieland, he did business in almost all the major Asian countries. He built and ran factories in many of them. One of the highlights during his career was the investment of his company into a new manufacturing plant in Jurong, Singapore, a project worth about 120 million SGD in total investment.

Bernd joined New Asia investments with the restructuring of the company in early 2012 and became a director and partner of the company.

He holds a master’s degree in chemical engineering from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany. Besides, he has also been involved in Singapore government initiatives such as the Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SME) initiative of Singapore’s Economic Development Board, which had the objective to develop strategies to grow the country’s SME sector.
