New Asia Investments is led by an experienced Management team while its shareholders include a number of strategic investors based in Asia, which actively support the company’s expansion through their network and relevant experience.
As a venture capitalist investor, New Asia Investments has a very hands-on investment management approach and actively works with entrepreneurial and technical Management teams in order to build a sustainable and successful business around inventions.
Director and Partner
Andreas has been an investment professional since the start of his career in 1999, initially working with financial institutions such as Deutsche Bank, Dresdner Bank and Deloitte & Touche in corporate finance. He has vast experience in managing transactions such as investments, IPOs and M&As as well as audits and advisory projects.
In 2006, Andreas joined the Venture Capital industry for Nanostart AG, Germany, being responsible for the international investments of the company. Those comprised of investments in a number of companies based in the Silicon Valley, USA. Andreas sold several of those successfully, including the trade sale of BioMicro Inc. to Roche.
Being based in Singapore full-time since 2009, Andreas’ initial role was to build Nanostart AG’s Asian business, which is the predecessor of New Asia Investments as it is today. He became a director and partner of New Asia Investments with the restructuring of the company in early 2012. He held board seats with more than ten companies during his time with Nanostart AG and New Asia Investments.
Andreas holds a diploma in business administration and finance from University of Frankfurt, Germany. He also received the qualification as a CPA-equivalent in Germany during his career. Besides this, he has also been involved in numerous initiatives in the early-stage environment in Singapore, such as for example the SMART (Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology) grant scheme, where he serves as a member of the grant selection committee.
Director and Partner
Prior to joining NAI in early 2012, Bernd was the Managing Director of Wieland Asia/Pacific in Singapore. The Wieland group with headquarters in Germany is one of the world’s leading independent producers of semi-finished copper and copper alloy products. Under his lead, Wieland‘s business in the Asia / Pacific region grew in eighteen years from a small enterprise to an organization generating more than 400 million SGD in revenues per year.
During his time with Wieland, he did business in almost all the major Asian countries. He built and ran factories in many of them. One of the highlights during his career was the investment of his company into a new manufacturing plant in Jurong, Singapore, a project worth about 120 million SGD in total investment.
Bernd joined New Asia investments with the restructuring of the company in early 2012 and became a director and partner of the company.
He holds a master’s degree in chemical engineering from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany. Besides, he has also been involved in Singapore government initiatives such as the Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SME) initiative of Singapore’s Economic Development Board, which had the objective to develop strategies to grow the country’s SME sector.
